Bug Smarts 2 is a delightful movie, full of interesting characters, challenging plots, and some educational facts–a really good idea for the young viewers.

Who wouldn’t love the female butterfly named “Flutterfly”? She is a go-getter and helps make sure the rest of the gang stays on task. She also helps get them out of trouble. And this gang of insects and birds and spiders sure know how to find trouble! Rusty the ant winds up in an old can and when a plant grows a bit overnight it is too high for him to jump out of. But don’t worry, help will soon be on the way.

And when another character gets stuck on a spider web, good old Flutterfly shows up with help once again. In another sequence in this wonderfully animated movie, the frog Joe Croaker (get it?) suffers a heat stroke and passes out. A nice lesson is given for kids to stay hydrated and retreat to cool places when the summer heat is intense. But it’s good news for Joe, as his friends help him to recover.

Other interesting facts are given in the film including a tidbit about how the Earth’s magnetic field helps pigeons to fly. Who knew? This movie does an amazing job in showing how the environment and its inhabitants all work in harmony to help keep things going and to straighten out problematic situations. The movie easily earns our Dove seal for All Ages. It’s combination of intriguing characters, interesting facts, and entertainment value makes for a good movie.
