Dove Review

Here is another exciting adventure with Joe Croaker, Cosmo, Flutterfly, and the rest of the gang. In this latest adventure Cosmo meets a tadpole named Q, and boy–is he little! But he and Cosmo become good friends. Then, one day Q turns into a frog and Cosmo won’t believe it when he tells him that he is old friend Q. Cosmo just knows something has happened to his buddy. A great teaching moment occurs at this point with the viewer being educated on how tadpoles do indeed eventually become frogs.

In other subplots, Cosmo connects a line to two nuts which have been made hollow, and suddenly he has a telephone at his disposal. But a few characters learn what can happen with this neat invention–such things as eavesdropping and gossiping. In another story line, a certain stone is discovered which is hard, cuts things easily, and it is soon learned that it is a diamond. A lesson on diamonds and how they can be used to cut hard items is then given. Along with the uplifting songs, educational moments, and funny moments, some moral lessons are taught too. For example, Cosmo begins to fight against a tendency to be greedy when he learns just how valuable the diamond is.

Flutterfly also gets trapped inside a flower that closes on her and she needs help from her friends. The idea of friendship and helping one another out are nicely shown. In addition, a character helps Joe Croaker build a platform in order to see the stars better at night, and we learn why stink bugs…well, stink! Due to the nice morals and mild content, we are delighted to award our Dove seal for All Ages to this terrific animated movie.
