Dove Review

Things are not looking to promising for Peter and Fran. Their marriage is disintegrating, their business is struggling and Peter’s health is suffering. But when Peter decides to heed his physician’s advice and take some much needed time off, he knows he can rest easy that his business will thrive under the care and management of his trusted employee Henry. However, Henry has other plans.

While Peter is getting some much needed rest and relaxation, Henry discovers that Peter’s estranged wife will be overseeing the business. Since Henry and Fran don’t work well together, Henry devises to hire a new crew of employees, including an 80+ bridge club member who hasn’t worked in 40 years, a teenager who struggles with punctuality and an ex-con. He then bids farewell, leaving the keys with the new manager, and follows up with a managerial offer at a competing restaurant down the street.

The Creperie Restaurant moves through a difficult transition as the staff struggle to operate in Peter’s absence. When he returns,he asks for Henry before discovering that the shady crew in his establishment are the replacements that Henry has left behind.

As the weeks go by, the new employees settle into their positions and begin working with Peter to adjust the menu and the dining space. Peter realizes that although Henry set out to sabotage Peter’s business, his plan has backfired and The Creperie has become an eclectic, beloved favorite in the community. As such, Peter renames the restaurant the Eclectic Café, highlighting each special touch his employees has added to what had once been a near-failing business venture.

When Peter’s health worsens, and Fran has abandoned her former husband, the Eclectic Café, along with its customers and faithful friends, come together to care for Peter in his recovery and ensure that he doesn’t lose the investment that they all created together.

Despite the humorous and heart-warming aspects of community in this film, the heavy language is Not Dove-approved.
