Mandy is engaged! Her sister, Ellie, is so excited to help plan and actually take over, the “destination Mexico” wedding. Her own wedding? Well, she and Alec do not need a wedding to be committed. Too bad Alec can’t come to Mexico— he’s too busy … again. Wedding party, parents and Ellie arrive in Mexico. Greg, Ellie’s old boyfriend, arrives … he is the best man, Ellie is the maid of honor. Awkward greeting. When Mandy and Jason have a fight and miss their plane, and the Mexican wedding planner, Janvier, is brand new to the game, Ellie and Greg have to take over the planning in their place. To further complicate matters, Jason and Mandy split up, and the wedding appears to be doomed! Greg and Ellie team up to convince them to work it out and are forced to continue with the wedding plans in place of the bride and groom, whom they hope will make up and still arrive in time.
When Mandy and Jason cancel the wedding, Ellie is completely thrown off course. She and Greg have to tell everyone but first, they escape into town and are truly having fun together and reminiscing. Gramma loves Greg and insists Ellie think about what a great couple they make. When it’s time for the wedding rehearsal, Ellie and Greg are forced to stand in for the still-missing Mandy and Jason. Ellie is having second thoughts about Alec. When Alec arrives unexpectedly, Ellie must make a decision that will impact the rest of her life while Gramma is thrilled her feigned illness produced the result she wanted.
