Synopsis

Spookley the Square Pumpkin helps a special green cat and three stray kittens find a home and teaches us that it’s never wrong to do the right thing.

Dove Review

Spookley and the Christmas Kittens is a wonderful family Christmas movie that employs memorable characters, peppy songs, and cozy, yet adventurous scenery.

Mistletoe is a green kitten who is taken to the North Pole by Santa, but through a mishap, Mistletoe finds himself at the Holiday Hill Farm. Though Mistletoe can’t remember his time at the North Pole, he does know that he’s different. But soon, he finds that he isn’t alone in being different. Amidst the pumpkins on the farm is a square pumpkin named Spookley.

When Mistletoe’s collar goes missing, taken by a mysterious owl, Mistletoe sets off to find it, as it’s his only link to his past. Spookley soon learns of Mistletoe’s departure and hopes to return Mistletoe to the farm so he doesn’t miss the celebration of the first snowflake of the Christmas season.

Spookley hopes to find him before the onset of a coming snowstorm. Meanwhile, Mistletoe meets Leon, an energetic raccoon, who is sly as a fox. He tricks Mistletoe into adopting three intellectually advanced kittens named Scat, Scram, and Shoo! After Spookley finds Mistletoe, he’s determined to lead the whole gang safely back to the farm.

Awaiting Mistletoe is a surprise gift from Santa, a gift that reveals his mysterious past and will change his future.

This delightful movie not only features songs about helping one another and being kind, but the characters’ actions demonstrate those themes of selflessness.

Both songs and script contain memorable themes such as the importance of being kind and helping others, getting along, reaching out for one’s dreams, and realizing that life’s a journey.

We award Spookley and the Christmas Kittens our Dove-approved seal for All Ages.
