Dove Review

Children of Abraham is a documentary that highlights the differences and similarities between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The main purpose is to emphasize the fact that the three religions are tied together through the belief in the “Prophet Abraham.” Over the span of an hour, viewers learn details about what sets each religion apart, but also the specific items that they share, like their understanding of who Abraham was.

The plot of Children of Abraham is straightforward—it does not deviate from its purpose. For this reason, it can seem a bit dull at times. The stories shared by the narrator are done so in a monotone way which makes it difficult for the viewer to stay interested.

With that being said, the information shared in Children of Abraham is full of interesting historical and Biblical facts as well as important truths. The scenery is diverse, showing a wide variety of religious culture, and the camera crew clearly traveled to obtain footage. The videography alone is educational and fascinating. The audio in Children of Abraham is good for the most part, but some of the scenes contain a drop in volume or are subject to changes and pitch as a result of location.

For those who are interested in documentaries or historical films, Children of Abraham is a great source of information. Viewers should be prepared to focus on the content and listen carefully to the stories in order to fully understand the concepts being told. The writers of Children of Abraham did a wonderful job conducting research and compiling facts as they relate to three different, yet similar, religions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

Children of Abraham is Dove-approved for all ages.
