Dove Review

Jenna (Daniela Bobadilla) is getting married, much to the delight of her mom, Debra (Gail O’Grady). The whole family is excited and even more so when Jenna wants the wedding to take place at the ranch where her parents got married. And such a happy marriage. Jenna sees good luck in that!

In a quiet moment with fiancé Chris (Frank Cappello), Jenna wonders about her DNA. Her parents adopted her at 2 days old, and if they are to start a family she needs to know. Jenna wonders, who is my birth mother? Do I look like her? Am I like her?

Debra is encouraging but warns that Jenna’s birth mother may not be cooperative. However, when Haley Snow (Betsy Brandt) swoops into the coffee shop to meet Jenna and Debra, she is anything but meek and mild! She is an events planner with celebrity clients — and drives a Porsche! When Haley finds out Jenna is getting married, weddings are her specialty and she “has connections all over town.” What could go wrong?

As Haley takes over, Jenna is wowed by her ability to get into the most prestigious venues and call in favors from elite vendors. As Debra copes with being left out while desperately trying to fund-raise to save her charity, she also must allow Jenna to have the wedding of her dreams. Jenna is truly mesmerized by Haley as she writes the checks and continues to add extravagances. But as Haley and Debra spar over every detail, Jenna has had enough! She loudly tells them to figure out how to get along, stop competing and stomps off.

When Jenna confronts Haley as to why she is doing all of this for her, Haley is emotional as she explains her motives and relates the story of the heartbreak in giving Jenna up for adoption. Jenna and Haley know what they must do to make things right, but will Debra be able to forgive and trust Haley and not lose her daughter in the process? Will Jenna get her dream wedding despite the clash over every detail? And will Debra take a strong stance to save her beloved charity?

An excellent cast, fun storyline, and a twist ending that will keep you glued to the screen. A fun and entertaining movie and Dove-approved for All Ages.
