Director Wim Wenders (Wings of Desire) uplifts the spirit, both visually and musically. He also hints that the elderly have much to offer. The cinematography beautifully catches Cuban life and when the band comes to Carnegie Hall, the group’s octogenarians remind us of how much we have in America, and how we so often take it for granted. Walking the streets of New York City, one of the group looks around and remarks, “I feel so happy seeing all this.” The film, the music, and the cast are each a true joy.
