Tumbleweeds

Mary Jo Walker (Janet McTeer), a working-class woman from North Carolina with three marriages and several live-in boyfriends behind her, takes to the road with her 12-year-old daughter after a fight with the latest lover. Ava (Kimberly J. Brown) often seems more grounded than her free spirited mother, and at her insistence the duo head for California. Once settled in a coastal community in near San Diego, Mary Jo finds another man, and they quickly move in with him. Ava takes to the southern California lifestyle and all seems well. But it doesn’t take long for us to realize that Mary Jo has picked the same kind of abusive man. The film focuses on a strong mother-daughter relationship, but with little regard for others or for a spiritual development.

Profanity and obscenity throughout, some from a 12-year-old; several intense arguments littered with profane language; some crude humor, including flatulence jokes; sexual conversations and situations; drinking.
