Dove Review

For those budding flower arrangers out there, be prepared to feast your eyes on incredible arrangements of exotic flowers while being entertained by a heartwarming story where preserving family memories and honoring commitment is the very fabric that creates a beautiful friendship and blossoms into a forever love.  Dove approved for all ages.

Ann Keller (Sarah Power) was elated as her boss at Managed Risk Services, began his talk on needing someone to head the international office…she has been with the company for a long time and is trusted.  But her smile fades quickly when he asks if she thought Steph would be capable of the job and HR would send over a list of candidates for her to screen.  No promotion….again.

While complaining to Samantha (Amanda Ip) her best friend, Ann’s dad, Tom Keller (Mark Camacho) phones and asks her to come home to help for a bit since he had a little accident and fractured his arm.   Of course she will.  Picking up flowers for her dad, she meets the town’s charming florist, Aaron Blum (Thomas Cadrot) twice…once at the deli and again at his flower shop. And a third time, when he rings Tom’s doorbell with a delivery of flowers.  Ann is amazed to find out they are competitive flower arrangers and grand prize winners of the Annual Botanic Cup Excellence Award!  With the Botanic Cup competition looming at the end of the week, Tom is upset he now cannot compete, BUT the bylaws state if a contestant must drop out, the next of kin can assume the position.  Ann is it!  Aaron is skeptical and a little frightened at the prospects of a newbie with no knowledge filling in for a pro like Tom.

As Ann and Aaron try to cultivate a working environment, they must put their opposing perspectives aside if they are to qualify for the next round and ultimately, win the Botanic Cup.  As they spend more time together, Ann is seeing Aaron in a romantic light, but he is clear that he doesn’t mix romance with business and she knows her feelings are going nowhere.

But as the flowers come into bloom, so does a bud of a romance, and both Aaron and Ann must take some serious steps to rid themselves of past hang-ups if they are to truly follow their hearts.

The Dove Take:
Getting in the way of your own happiness because you lack confidence in your abilities and always choosing the safe path could definitely benefit from a makeover, and taking the saying, “no risk, no reward” seriously, may be just what is needed. When love blooms for you, have confidence in taking that risk and cherishing the well-deserved reward!
