Dove Review

It’s Christmastime and Santa must solve the greatest mystery of all. Who got the best present? Santa and his bestie Mittens the reindeer have plenty of friends in Sunnyville to check in with. They also ask for vacation ideas. They are sure to get the answer in It’s A Frozen Christmas Time 3. This is one of many animated films that showcase Christmastime in Sunnyville, where a community of animals live harmoniously among a magical setting of giant lollipops and cupcakes scattered around their magical, sunny town. In this movie Santa and Mittens go for a walk to ask all their friends in town what they got for Christmas.

Between Santa and Mittens’ visits with their friends, they break out into dance with the other characters as a variety of catchy motivational songs play, while all of Sunnyville engages in a dance party. These interludes are a large portion of the show, but Santa and the others get several chances throughout to communicate moral messages about doing good and loving others. In this endearing movie they highlight problem-solving, the environment, the value of hard work, and the importance of bringing happiness and joy.

Santa and Mittens are surprised on all of their encounters, as friend after friend reports what their favorite gifts are: Olive likes her hiking boots, and they discuss how sometimes the best gifts are things we need; Fritz the monkey says his favorite gift is his new freezer; and Toot Toot the train loves the new smokey tooter the best. When Santa and Mittens get home, all their friends are waiting for them, so they can share their secret with them that they believe that Santa and Mittens are their family and that is the greatest gift of all. Mr. Buttons then appears to present Santa and Mittens with a special gift that all the town folk pitched in to give them – an imagination ticket to any destination they want. All they have to do is imagine where they want to go. This film about the joy of giving is a wonderful opportunity to sing and dance with children while discussing the important messages about appreciating and loving others.
