The subject matter may sound like a downer, but this is good television. Lacking any objectionable language or sexual exploitation, this film mesmerizes with skilled acting, a sensitive script and tight direction. “Midwives” examines a good family faced with a devastating problem. And guys, get this, the men are not boneheads or abusers. Thank you Lifetime. You finally figured out how to tell a story that uplifts women without belittling men. I appreciate that!
