Dove Review

Wilky is a typical Haitian boy. Though hard work is required on the family farm, he would rather have fun hanging out with his friends and exploring the city. Though Wilky’s mom and sister are devout Christians, Wilky and his father aren’t so sure about a life committed to such faith and honor.

As a little boy, Wilky’s father introduced him to dark magic, the practice of voodoo. To earn money, Wilky’s father eventually becomes a voodoo doctor, attempting to heal others under false pagan rituals. However, once Wilky grows into a teenage boy and accepts Christ as his Lord and Savior, the family turns their attention to praying for the head of the household, begging God to open his heart to the Gospel truth.

After a near-death experience, Wilky’s father is severely wounded, but after much prayer and petition, viewers see a soul-changing revolution, all in the name of Christ’s power and love.

Dèt Mwen Yo Peye/Paid in Full is based on a true story with the message centered on 1 Timothy 2:5, which says, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man of Christ Jesus.”

Though many Haitians look to pagan rituals and false doctrine for healing, forgiveness, and eternal life, Wilky boldly proclaims that Christ Jesus is the sole access to God the Father.

Due to these Gospel-centered elements, Paid in Full is Dove-approved for Ages 12+. Parents are advised to discuss more intense themes regarding voodoo with children of all ages before viewing.

The Dove Take
