A light-hearted romance filmed in Prince George, BC, Canada, with soothing nostalgic music throughout setting the mood in each scene. A treat for all Food Network fans, as the real and famous Chef Bob Blumer, plays the role of Bill, but is also the production’s food stylist and culinary advisor behind the scenes! Dove approved for all ages, so enjoy this entertaining movie with your entire family.
Big-city restaurant award-winning Chef, Ava Miller (Meghan Heffern), with access to the best ingredients in the world, spares nothing as she creates her daily culinary specials, but her boss thinks she is burnt out and needs to go somewhere and rediscover why she likes to cook. Go to France, go out with friends… Friends? What friends? Ava doesn’t have any…. Nowhere to go except home to the little town she couldn’t wait to leave but with no option, she calls her dad and has to remind him, “…your daughter…?” Dad, Donny Miller (Pete Graham) is not happy to see her, nor is he all excited about eating her fancy meals.
Ava is pleased to run into Bill (Bob Blumer), an old friend who invites her to dinner to catch up and meet his girlfriend, Julia. Donny has nothing nice to say about Bill and the years of feuding have not been resolved. Preoccupied and taking a shortcut through the trees on the way to Bill’s house, Ava steps out onto the road and is almost run over by Bill’s son Logan (Jon Cor), Ava’s childhood friend.
As she and Logan get reacquainted, he is bringing her back to the basics of locally sourced ingredients from his Farmer’s Market. It just leads to more angst for Ava, but when Logan suggests, “…maybe the problem is the restaurant…” Ava is forced to reevaluate the high-pressure lifestyle of working in fancy restaurants and being stifled in her creativity.
When she is fired from her job, she throws herself into looking after her dad. As they reconnect, he is willing to talk about Ava’s mom and heal from the hurt of losing his wife. When Donny bluntly comments on Logan’s obvious feelings for Ava, she is taken aback, causing even more reason for the need to reassess her life.
As Ava rediscovers her passion for food, she comes to terms with family dynamics, her feelings for Logan, and the universal appeal of yummy food that is truly the way to the heart.
