Johnny English

In this James Bond spoof, all but one of the British Secret Service agents have been eliminated, it seems, by one who desires to steal the Crown Jewels of England. Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson), Britain’s normally desk-bound agent, is called into action by default. He uses every high-tech, Bond-like device to attempt to outwit the criminals. Bough (Ben Miller) is the more capable straight man to Atkinson’s clumsy character. Villain Pascal Sauvage (John Malkovich) has diabolical aspirations, not only for possessing the Crown Jewels, but also for the future of Britain itself. Lorna Campbell (Natalie Imbruglia) is a secret agent for the French Secret Police who becomes Johnny’s love interest.

Dove Review

The plot is simple and predictable, but overall enjoyable. There is some use of crude language and there is one scene where a man’s bare bottom is shown with writing on it. The film contains very mild violence and no sexual situations. For a James Bond spoof not to have sexual situations is a credit to Universal.
