The dancing’s good in this film, and the target audience of teenagers will enjoy that a lot. After losing her mother, Sara puts on the survival face and blends immensely well into an area of Chicago that most girls would run away from. While she appears to have a lot of chutzpah, the tears flow freely as her relationship with Derek blossoms and she softens and talks about her mother. There are instances of blatant sexual dancing, although they’re brief. This isn’t a video I’d watch again, but teenagers might enjoy seeing the dancing. Sara and Derek’s only physical contacts are a couple of kisses. Overall, a film about life on the south side of Chicago and one young woman’s walk in diversity and having to deal with reverse discrimination.
