Maid in Manhattan – Edited

In this romantic comedy, Marisa Ventura [Jennifer Lopez] is a lovely, hard-working maid at a first-class luxury hotel in downtown Manhattan. As a single mom, Marisa's top priority is to her son Ty [Tyler Posey, and she is determined to make life better for him and for herself. Handsome politician Christopher Marshall [Ralph Fiennes] assumes she is a wealthy socialite when he sees her trying on one of the hotel guest's outfits. He puts his political career on the line and pursues her. The two fall in love after a brief encounter and, like Cinderella, she runs after an elegant ball. The paparazzi makes their relationship front-page news, and all of the tabloid publicity about Christopher's mysterious companion puts Marisa's pending promotion in jeopardy. The tension builds around her mistaken identity. Will Christopher still want her when he discovers the truth? That she is a lowly hotel maid?

Dove Review

This edited version of “Maid in Manhattan” was delightful and had none of the objectionable elements listed above. I found touches not only of Cinderella, but Pygmalion as well: the lovely young woman who captures the heart of a well-heeled man looking for goodness in a wife. The relationships she enjoyed with her maid and co-workers were good and reminiscent of “Sister Act.” They all pulled together and had a great time through thick and thin! This is good viewing and again shows that the heart of a good person crosses all social/economic spectrums.
