Because this is an edited version, I can say: “I do”, to this movie. There are many cultural insights into the Indian culture, along with themes that are universal: the importance of family and the support and encouragement found there. Aditi, the bride to be, becomes a woman of greater depth when she chooses to tell her fiancé the truth about her relationship with the married man. There are scenes of high emotion: when a family member is confronted with very inappropriate past and current behavior, but there is nothing that a 12 year old couldn’t handle with understanding. There are scenes of joy, on the day of the wedding, when all the threads are pulled together, as both families come to celebrate the marriage of two beautiful young people who’ll be living in Houston, Texas. In some of the initial scenes, there was a lack of good editing, it was as if an inexperienced person was handed the camera in a few scenes around the dining table. Overall, this is good viewing to witness the Indian culture, along with universal themes that surround a wedding: love, stress, the unexpected occurring, and joy.
