“Dave” is the “Prince and the Pauper in Washington DC” circa 1993. Kevin Kline, one of my favorite actors, deftly portrays Dave Kovick, a likeable but unremarkable common citizen who finds himself in an enviable, but potentially dangerous look alike contest – he must fill in for the President of the United States who suffered a massive heart attack. We watch Dave as he progressively feels more comfortable in his role as the leader of the free world. The supporting cast, Weaver and Langella, provide the perfect foil for Kline’s subtle and believable comic preformance. “Dave” is a well-crafted story of the triumph of innocence over corruption.
