Tuck Everlasting – Edited

This is a Disney production that provides fantasy entertainment. There is a family in the early 1900's, who are monied and uppity. Their young daughter longs to see and experience the world beyond the high iron fence surrounding their home. One day, she runs away and and ends up living with a loving and bonded family who reside on the edge of the forest on her father's property. There is a secret surrounding this family: they never age because they drank from a spring on the property that gave them eternal life. Is this a good thing, to have eternal life? Does the girl drink from the spring, after falling in love with the young son in the family? These, and other questions about life are explored in this video.

Dove Review

This video has some interesting elements: taking a realistic look at not dying a natural death. The girl’s family is looking for her as earnestly as Elizabeth Smart’s family pursued getting their daughter back home. However, the young lady in this video thoroughly enjoyed being with the caring and fun-loving family who’d consumed the water from the spring, and had claimed eternal life. Watching this video with young children would bring up many interesting questions about life and death for discussion. This is enjoyable entertainment, and I was glad they pointed out quite clearly that not having to die isn’t really that enticing. An interesting story-line and very good acting.
