Lemony Snickets Series of Unfortunate Events – Edited

This is the story of the Bauedelaires, three young orphans, Violet (Browning), Klaus (Aiken) and Sunny, looking for a new home, who are taken in by a series of odd relatives and other people, including Lemony Snicket, who narrates the film, and starting with the cunning and dastardly Count Olaf (Carrey), who hopes to snatch their inheritance from them. Violet is the oldest of the Baudelaires at 14, and is their brave and fast-thinking leader. The only boy is middle child Klaus, 12, who is intensely intelligent and obsessed with words. The youngest is infant Sunny, who speaks in a language only her siblings can understand, and she has a tendency to... bite.

Dove Review

I really loved this movie. I read all of Lemony Snicket’s books, and I found that unlike most other movies that were made about a book or a series of books, this one followed the others quite closely. In the beginning of the movie the narrator warns all viewers: if you are looking for a story with a happy ending, leave the theater or the couch in which you sit because this movie is nothing of the sort. It has some dark undertones about children who have lost everything in this world but each other and are being pursued to be murdered by a treacherous Count. There really isn’t anything objectionable in this movie other than the fact that it leaves you feeling worse than you did when you sat down to watch it. It’s unlike any other movie that I have ever seen and I loved it just the same. I recommend that everyone see it.
