Country Roads Christmas is intent on bringing home the holiday spirit full of love and forgiveness. Set in Nashville with a backdrop of beautiful snowy country life, the film opens with a famous cowboy singer Harris Anderson (Bailey Chase) narrating his story about how this particular Christmas changed his life. For decades he has chosen his fame over his family, and now his adult daughter Skye (Lanie McAuley), whom he hasn’t spoken to in several years, holds a lot of resentment towards him, especially after he left her mother, supposedly for another famous singer.
Enter Ryan (Bo Yokely), the managing executive at Harris’ record label, who becomes responsible for bringing this family back together. After offering Skye a job upon losing her own, to her surprise she is tasked to be the road manager for her own father. Harris and Skye have an opportunity to reconnect, and she begins to find grace for him, albeit not much. It isn’t until they all spend Christmas together that forgiveness and reconciliation is possible, but not until after Harris reveals the whole truth about why he chose to be away from home.
This film offers sweet reunions and chances at new love, after Skye finally sees Ryan for who he really is. Lanie McAuley’s singing voice is particularly impressive, and the surprise ending, that now has Skye up on stage, is as heartwarming as they come.
