This is a very well-made western. The Hallmark Channel should be proud of this effort. The story line is interesting and actors Patrick Duffy and Stacey Keach have a good on-screen chemistry. The premise is that Samuel Kendrick’s (Keach) son Johnny has turned outlaw and helped the Reynolds’ gang to rob a bank. Johnny also stops by his former wife’s place to grab his son, Abe, so his son can be with him and not grow up without a father. Sheriff Swede Lundstrom (Duffy) is an old friend of Samuel, and he drops by with the news that Samuel’s grandson has been taken by the Reynolds’ gang. Samuel and Swede ride after the Reynolds’ gang but are pursued themselves by two bounty hunters who hope to make money off the Reynolds’ gang. The characters are interesting in this film, particularly the two leads. Swede is fond of little sayings, such as “When a man comes in second in a gun fight, he don’t brag about it,” and, “You might not like the truth, but that doesn’t change it.”
We recommend this film for ages twelve and above as there is some violence but little blood. There is also some mild language.
