This black and white animated Betty Boop episode runs just over 6 minutes, but is jam-packed with action and unforgettable images. For example, the unforgettable face of famous actor Ed Wynn is seen popping out of a jar of jam! Betty is seen working on a jigsaw puzzle when the episode opens, and she finds a piece of a rabbit’s foot and is searching for a piece with the image of his head. She talks to herself while working on it, and she has that very distinctive Betty Boop voice. In fact, sure enough she lets loose with a, “Poo-poo-pa-doo!” exclamation as only she could.
Betty winds up in Blunderland, which is obviously a take on Alice in Wonderland. She spots the Mad Hatter, a rabbit, a lion, a seal, a king, a turtle, and that’s not all. In one humorous scene a horned animal is pursuing another one, and the other one has an “X” marked on its rear. The horned animal is determined to hit that X! In another scene twins are shown and each has a club, determined to club the other one in the head. But they are both pretty slick in avoiding the other one’s club attack.
This imaginative movie short also features a scene in which various characters spot a ‘Shrink-ola” drink at a counter, and each one shrinks after drinking it, including Betty Boop. This movie doesn’t slow down from start to finish and you will be well pressed to keep up with it all during the non-stop action. The six minute-film short flies by.
