Tenley Sweeney (Rhiannon Fish) is smitten by her online crush, Jared Carr (James Pizzinato) with whom she’s been interacting exclusively online for a whole year! Her best friend Cami (Tanya Jade) is encouraging her to finally meet him in person. They have so much in common – she’s an eco-conscious horticulturist, and he, an environmentalist. When Jared stands her up, and she finds him in the hospital where the doctor mistakes her for his wife…well, things just escalate from there when he tells the family Tenley saved Jared’s life by getting to the hospital so quickly and signing the consent papers for his treatment. Jared’s mother is ecstatic and invites Tenley for dinner, despite Everett (Edward Ruttle), Jared’s best friend/like-a-brother, disbelieving he would not have known about a marriage!
Tenley makes many futile attempts to explain she is not Jared’s wife, but never gets the chance, and Everett remains very suspicious. When she is asked to step in for Jared to save the family company, she jumps right in. As she works with Everett, they are falling for each other, and Tenley is haunted by the lie she is living. But Jared’s sister who is aware of the fraud, prevents Tenley from revealing the truth with the threat that Jared’s business will fail and the family will lose everything, and she must keep the secret and continue working to save them from complete ruin.
The big reveal happens when Jared comes out of his medically induced coma and has no idea who Tenley is…shocking everyone and turning Everett against her.
Can Tenley explain herself and her well-intended motives and save her chances for happiness with the right guy? Maybe… with the help of Jared’s sister…and the gardening lady who finally speaks up!
