This movie is Biblical with a few alterations which may be historically related, and Omar Sharif does an outstanding job in the title role. This film begins with Jesus’ death and resurrection, and moves into the book of Acts as Peter is used to raise a lame man, preaches and converts literally thousands of people, upsets the Roman government, and becomes acquainted with Saul, who later becomes the Apostle Paul. This outstanding drama shines and should be seen by evangelicals and non-evangelicals alike. It is scripturally accurate with a few scenes based on the history of the Roman Coliseum. It is a testament to the time frame right after Christ’s departure from earth. Omar Sharif makes a compassionate and strong Simon Peter and the acting, tight direction, beautiful cinematography, and story make for one good film. Few Biblical stories are portrayed as well in film as this one is. It is a must-see film for ages twelve and above, due to a few scenes of violence, and we award this film five doves, the highest number we can give.
