This is a fantastic IMAX experience. Not only is much of the beautiful cinematograpahy of the film breathtaking, but the viewer may well learn a few things he/she did not know. For example, did you know that the Gator has the strongest bite in the animal world? This film is environmentally educational as it shows the birth of baby alligators, emerging from their eggs into the new world. It is a bit humorous as it shows a man whose pet is a baby alligator. It is heart wrenching as it re-enacts Hurricane Audrey from some fifty years ago, and the audience hears a man’s story about his grandfather who died of a heart attack as he attempted to tread the rising waters. The viewer will also see the horrible devastation brought about by Hurricane Katrina: a car embedded into the side of a house, people who survived to tell their stories by living in the attic of their homes, a woman crying as the house she raised her children in is razed. The film is probably not suitable for the very young but children, teens and adults, will all gain something from watching this film. When power went out in various parts of New Orleans, many people rescued others on their own. We recommend this film for all ages, with a warning that there are a few tears in the movie but nothing so graphic as to deny its approval for everyone. Again, parents of the very young should use caution.
