Synopsis

Marco Polo intrigued audiences with his tales of magnificent palaces filled with precious stones, rivers filled with gold and “men with tails” who threw nuts as big as a man’s head. He described things no one had ever witnessed, so no one believed him. Through his book that highlighted his travels throughout India, China, and many other exotic lands far from his native home of Italy, Marco Polo inspired many explorers. In spite of the many doubters, Marco Polo teaches of a peace that comes with being honest.

Dove Review

At first glance I thought, “Oh, Boy”. I anticipated this movie to be poor quality and one to endure. But, I was wonderfully surprised and reminded again not to judge a “book” by its cover! “The Animated Hero Classics: Marco Polo” was not only captivating, but educational. The cartooning is kind of basic, but the story was written so well that it trumps the fact that it isn’t a multi-million dollar production. Marco Polo’s courage, adventurous spirit and faithfulness to his dreams are intriguingly displayed in this story. There was only one minor phrase to mention and that is when Marco Polo stated that the Siamese gods must have protected him. “The Animated Hero Classics: Marco Polo” would be a fantastic edition to any school collection. Dove happily approves this DVD as family friendly.
