Have you ever known a kid who is a little bit different? Young Dennis (Bobby Coleman) fits the bill as he believes he is from Mars. Enter recently-widowed Dave, a science fiction writer who was a bit different himself as a child. Dave understands Dennis’ need to express his imagination and he looks into adopting him. This is a film that speaks positively on the subject of adoption.
Unfortunately, despite some tender moments and interesting interaction between Dave and Dennis, the film includes the use of the Lord’s name in vain four times. If not for this unfortunate fact, we could have awarded our Dove Seal to the picture. Although the language is listed as “mild,” we do not consider the mis-use of the Lord’s name in vain as mild language. Therefore we are unable to award our Dove Seal to this movie as a family-friendly film.
