Based on a true story, “Second Chances” is an uplifting tale of a little girl’s physical and emotional reawakening after a car crash claims her father – and her spirit. The accident leaves 14-year-old Sunny Matthews unable to walk without crutches. However, the damage to Sunny’s legs pale in comparison to her emotional wounds, which cause her to withdraw from life and everyone around her.
Miraculously, things begin to change when Sunny and her mother Kathleen move next door to a horse ranch run by one-time rodeo star Ben Taylor. Sunny’s recovery begins as she develops an affinity for Ben, and a love for a mean-spirited, crippled horse named Ginger.
While there may be plenty of movies about horses and even more about getting a new lease on life, none I have viewed recently were as touching and complete as “Second Chances.” This film was one of the most inspirational depictions of forgiveness and determination I have ever seen. With wonderful performances by this star-studded cast, you will be sure to watch it over and over again.
Dove is pleased to award this touching drama about friendship, forgiveness and “Second Chances” our “Family-Approved” Seal and recommend it for all ages.
