Synopsis

As broadcast on the BBC in 1988

Welcome to the magical world where animals speak, mythical creatures roam the land and four children fight an epic battle between good and evil. In a strange castle in the English countryside four children open the door of an old wardrobe and find themselves transported to the magical kingdom of Narnia.

From the pen of C.S. Lewis – In a strange castle in the English countryside, four children open the door of an old wardrobe – and find themselves transported to the magical kingdom of Narnia! Lucy, Peter, Susan and Edmund soon discover that the evil White Witch has kept Narnia in never-ending winter and turned all her enemies to stone. Aslan the lion-king leads the fight against her power. Only the four children, however, hold the true key to defeating the evil witch.

Dove Review

In 1988 when the BBC broadcast this series, it brought to life the Narnia adventure. It is amazing how effects in filming have changed even for television. One has to remember this was a series so at times it seems slow moving. But it does a good job at telling The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe story created by C. S. Lewis. Also one has to keep in mind that it was filmed for 1988 television and as such there is nothing that offensive. Dove awards this DVD the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal.
