Australia

Synopsis
A romantic action-adventure set in northern Australia prior to World War II, AUSTRALIA centers on an English aristocrat (Kidman) who inherits a ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver (Jackman) to drive 2000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country’s most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier. With his new film, Luhrmann is painting on a vast canvas, creating a cinematic experience that brings together romance, drama, adventure and spectacle.
Dove Review
Wow, does this movie have something for everyone! It has cattle rustling, murder, romance, adventure, war scenes and even a little comedy all wrapped into one movie. It was a different time in Australia (World War 11) compared to how the world looks at that country now.
When Lady Sarah Ashley leaves her lovely England to retrieve her husband from that land down under, she is in for some surprises. She has to take over the duties of running the ranch that she planed on selling. As the Australian country brings her awareness of the dangers of the land, it is apparent that it is not just the land she has to fight for. Although this is an amazing movie with a fascinating story, due to content listed below the film is outside of the Dove guidelines for family viewing, and cannot be awarded our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal.
