Who doesn’t love weddings?? A fun movie steeped in family dynamics as the planning of wedding perfection takes over and the pressure is on as the bride insists everyone must have a “plus one.” A diverse cast with some new faces, great sets and beautiful outdoor scenery will hold your interest as you spend an enjoyable family movie night at home. Dove-approved for all ages.
Maisie Jacobs (Jenna Michno) is the independent programmer for her “Plus One” Matchmaking App. Thoughtful and open-minded, she is elated at the news that a high-profile journalist is coming to interview her about the dating service. As Maisie and her associate, Dana (Tyler Kay Whitley) prepare for this important event, Luke Penzer (Tyler Courtad), handsome arrogant journalist arrives.
As Maisie explains clearly and with excitement, the “Plus One” app is designed to match likely people who can fill in the plus one part of invitations providing a helpful service to those who don’t wish to attend events alone. But when Luke’s article hits the internet, Maisie is shocked at the brutal review and Dana points out that if Maisie, the CEO, hasn’t tried out the app herself, credibility of the entire idea is in jeopardy. Dana immediately jumps on the task of finding Maisie a match for her sister’s wedding.
But when Dana accidentally pushes the wrong key and the computer malfunctions, the guy who shows up as Maisie’s “plus one” is none other than Luke Penzer! Maisie is flabbergasted and overly annoyed, but it’s too late to get rid of him! Here come Mom and Dad and they are excited to have Maisie’s new “love” join the wedding guest list.
As much as Maisie needs to be in control, she is stuck with Luke and has no choice but to continue with the pretense. As the time closes in on the wedding day, emotions are running high, and Luke and Maisie seem to be thinking the same thoughts. Their differences are drawing them together and they are giving in to their feelings. Could the accidental malfunction of the App actually hold the true destiny for them both?
The Dove Take
