Dove Review

This movie includes some slaps as a few characters slap each other, as well as slapstick humor. But other than some good guys fighting some bad guys (with the likes of General Custer and Napoleon being involved) the violence isn’t very strong in this picture and what there is of it is pretty harmless.

The kids will no doubt enjoy seeing Amelia Earhart, Napoleon, and General Custer as well as many other characters, including the returning Teddy Roosevelt (played by Robin Williams) and cowboy Jed (Owen Wilson). Hank Azaria is funny as Rah, the Egyptian king who sounds a lot like Boris Karloff. Ben Stiller returns as Larry Daley and he is an entrepreneur now, selling all kinds of items including glow-in-the-dark flashlights. He is doing quite well but a return to the Natural History Museum proves to be fortuitous when he learns his friends are being transferred to the Smithsonian in Washington. The film’s plot includes Amelia and Larry falling for each other but they know it’s a doomed relationship because she will turn to wax come morning. However, the writers came up with a little twist which worked nicely by film’s end. A theme in the film focuses on doing what you like and being surrounded by people you love and is a nice theme. The film isn’t as original or funny as the first one, but it does have some good moments and the kids will no doubt love it.

We are happy to award our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal to this movie. So hurry off to the museum. The dinosaurs and famous characters are coming to life…just for you and your family!
