Christmas in Wonderland

It’s turning out to be a pretty rotten Christmas for the Saunders family. New to Edmonton, Canada from Los Angeles, they have no friends, no money and, with the exception of bright-eyed Mary, no Christmas spirit. Worst of all, mom is stranded in L.A. due to airline over bookings, so the Christmas shopping duties fall on Dad (Patrick Swayze, Powder Blue, TV’s The Beast) and the kids: Danny (Cameron Bright, Twilight Saga: New Moon) Brian and Mary. Things start looking a bit more like Christmas when Brian and Mary find a hoard of cash at the local mall and launch a yuletide shopping spree…that is, until the crooks (Saturday Night Live’s Chris Kattan and Carmen Electra) who counterfeited the money start chasing them down! Also starring Tim Curry.

Dove Review

Moving is never easy for families and this is a tale of one family’s day at the mall that changes things for everyone. The Saunders have moved and the boys don’t like it , but their little sister, Mary. doesn’t mind it as it is Christmas and all she wants is to make sure Santa knows where they live. Oh, and for Dad to have a million dollars! So after telling Santa what she wants, she believes the money that they find is from Santa.

The hilarious fun begins as Brian and Mary go on the Christmas shopping spree and the real owners of the money seek them out and want it back. Along with the eccentric detectives of the Canadian Mounted Police, who don’t really pay attention, this not-so-ordinary mall is alive with activity that will make you laugh.

This is one of the last films that Patrick Swayze acted in which makes it special as I aways enjoyed his acting. This is a truly comical Christmas story that will keep everyone’s attention. We award the film the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for 12 and over due to some language in the movie.
