Dove Review

This is a fantastic film which showcases courage and sacrificial love as a Christian teen named Fusia Podgorska (Kellie Martin) hides thirteen Jewish refugees in her attic during World War ll. She takes many risks and comes close to death by the conclusion but, without giving all the secrets away, those whom she has helped come to her aid. Kellie Martin gives an amazing performance in this movie. Based on a true story and opening in Poland in June 1941 the film reveals a city divided, occupied by Germany and Russia.

There is some violence such as some Jews being shot but little or no blood is seen in these cases. One character is seen with a bloody lip and cheek. The realistic scenes however are not gratuitous and yet one gets the feel of the horror and tragedy which so many human beings faced during this dark terror and period of the Nazi Third Reich.

Due to the faith displayed in God and the triumph of the human spirit and other noble themes which are portrayed in this movie, we are pleased to award “Hidden in Silence” the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages twelve and above. The end of the film shares wonderful details regarding those who survived the holocaust. Some parents will believe their children a little under twelve will be mature enough to view this important historical story.
