This is a charming tale about overcoming diversity. It is also a story about overcoming adversity. Kate (Hayden Panettiere) is an Alpha wolf and expected to be leader of her pack of wolves. She is even assigned an Alpha mate, Garth (Chris Carmack). Poor Humphrey (Justin Long) is an Omega wolf and has no place in Kate’s world but there is one problem. He is attracted to her and might even be in love with her. Kate wouldn’t think twice about a serious relationship with Humphrey but when fate throws them together in an adventure, only together can they find their way home to Jasper Park, Canada, and resolve the impending problem of Kate’s betrothal. It is a problem because Kate learns she has developed feelings for Humphrey and this predicament could tear the community apart.
There are great characters in this film including a golfing goose and a duck named Paddy. Danny Glover voices Kate’s dad Winston and his distinctive voice lends a nice mood to the film. And Dennis Hopper is the voice of Garth’s father, Tony, in his last voice-over role. There is a lot of action and some intense moments between the wolves and other animals including some bears but the intense scenes are always short scenes. We are pleased to award our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for all ages to this wonderful film. Enjoy an adventure in the woods with some great creatures. It’s a remarkable movie.
