Chihuahua The Movie

Sondra Wellington (Anya Benton) is bossy, controlling, and extremely unpleasant. But everything changes when a special friend from Sondra's past transforms her into Bella -- her assistant's loveable little Chihuahua. While Sondra lives as Bella, her real body is in a coma. In order to gain access to the hospital, Sondra must prove that she has what it takes to be a therapy dog. As she learns the tricks of the trade, she becomes more connected with the people around her and realizes her past mistakes. It appears that Sondra is finally ready to turn over a new leaf in her own life --that is, if she ever gets the chance.

Dove Review

“Chihuahua” is a cute film about a therapy dog in training and a woman who is so caught up in her own life that she has little time for or desire to care about others. When an old friend visits her and confronts her situation, her body is placed in a coma while her persona is transferred into the dog named Bella. As Bella, she learns compassion for others and realizes that helping others in need and pain is rewarding and more important than her needs and desires.

This film does contain some issues that may make it difficult to watch for families who have gone through divorce or the hospitalization of a loved one. Due to these things and the additional content below we award this film our “Family-Approved” Seal with a recommended viewing age of 12 and over.

Dog pees on man twice; discussions of divorce and the death of a father; parents separate due to the stress of a family illness; a woman rubs a crystal causing a dog and woman to change places metaphysically; a woman rubs a crystal which brings a woman and dog back to life - this is more fantasy magic than new age philosophy.
