Dove Review

This DVD set, season three of “Travel the Road”, reveals the power of the gospel. Missionaries Tim Scott and Will Decker preach the gospel in the Sudan, Somalia, Mongolia, and other far-flung corners of the world. They encounter wounded people, shot by Arab militia organizations, including one called the Janjaweed. They have a few close calls too. In addition, they struggle with finding a way to move forward following the breakdown of their truck. And in all of these situations, they manage to preach the gospel and see many conversions. They minister compassionately to the people of Africa.

This set is recommended for ages twelve plus with a caution. There is strong content in almost every one of the 12 episodes, especially in the first ten as the final two focus more on the evangelism Will and Tim do. We see naturalistic nudity as a few mothers have exposed breasts while feeding or preparing to feed their babies. We see bloody wounds and a few scenes of corpses. One troublesome scene reveals the tossing of sand shoved over the faces of some corpses. Several villages deal with the tragedy of genocide. However, the gospel message is strong throughout this series, with several conversions being witnessed, participation in church services, and the faith of many is revealed despite the tremendous hardships and odds stacked against them. The first two seasons of this powerful series are Dove approved for ages twelve plus and we add this third season to that list.

The episode titles are: 1. Age of Discovery: The Aambezi River 2. The Path We Choose: South Africa 3. The Returnees of New Sudan: The Southern Jungles 4.The Lost Generation: Southern Sudan 5. The Death of a Nation: Rwanda 6. The Curse: Fall of Man 7. 7 Days in Somalia: Part One 8. 7 Days in Somalia: Part Two 9. Into the Unknown: Journey to the Kachepo of Sudan 10. Devil’s on Horseback: Darfur, Sudan Bonus Episodes: 11. Eternity: To the Ends of the Earth 12. The Reindeer Tribe: Steppes of Siberia (from season two).
