Love of family, land and a generational farm are the backdrop for this outstanding film set against breathtaking fields ripe for harvest.
Brothers Daniel and Jacob Hansen are night and day different. We find Jacob Hansen set to marry Maddy and shortly thereafter his father plans for him to inherit Hansen Family Farms. Daniel has a dream of leaving the farm and heading to college. But, just one day before the wedding, Jacob leaves town without explanation and does not return nor contact his family for over 20 years. In his absence Dan takes up the mantel of working the family farm. He also wins the heart of Jacob’s former fiancé. They love deeply and build a strong family, but when Jacob unexpectedly saunters back into their lives it rocks Dan’s world in a myriad of ways. He must wrestle with old feelings and family dynamics that had simmered beneath the surface for years.
In the midst of Jacob’s return, tragedy strikes the farm threatening the foundation of all that matters deeply to Dan, his father James, Maddy and their children. The Hansens must now reach beyond their past and pull together to keep the family together and save their farm.
Harvest is a rich story featuring strong themes of passionate commitment to family, respect of parents and the struggle of those that have roots buried deep in the soil of the family farm. It is a beautiful rendition of hard work that makes a difference and love for the ones who matter most in the midst of great pain and struggle. Strong family values are woven throughout the film and presented in a realistic and powerful presentation.
