Synopsis

Winner of audience awards at film festivals from coast to coast, Circus Dreams follows the adventures of a troupe of teens and tweens who astonish and delight audiences around New England on a Big Top Tour. The vibrant production captures the energy, perseverance, teamwork and deep friendships at Circus Smirkus, the acclaimed Vermont-based youth circus, as the cast readies a brand-new show and takes it on the road for 70 performances in 14 towns over seven weeks. From the grueling training and rigorous rehearsals to the emotional final show of the season, Circus Dreams documents a magical summer for a group of extraordinary young people.

Dove Review

Just like the circus, this DVD is fun and the entire family will enjoy it. We see what happens when several young people want to join Circus Smirkus, which is a youth-based circus. From their aspirations and dreams to try-outs and finally, for those who survive the cuts, a 70-show tour which will take the young performers to various towns and states with the chance to live their dreams.

We see various performers such as Joy Powers, who wants only to be a clown and when she makes it there is much work which lies ahead. She connects with fellow clown Maddy Hall and makes a friend. We see everything that goes along with a circus tour, including the forging of friendships, rainy days, occasional low crowds, and tiring days of work and rehearsals. Yet the laughs of the audience keep the troupe going. We learn by the end that Joy has gone on to be with the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey circus. We are more than pleased to award our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal to this DVD for all ages. So don’t clown around, watch this DVD soon!
