The movie opens up with the text found in Revelation 13:1 regarding the Dragon (the devil). The setting is Bangkok, Thailand. The filmmakers show us how the future mark of the beast, the Antichrist, might be used. A man is given a chip and told he is to deliver it to Berlin, Germany. It will always be a part of him. The idea is that the chip will be what is known in the Bible as the “mark of the beast”. The picture also takes a peek into American life in the future where the economy is chaotic and needs help.
A certain man, Chad Turner, has a young brother who is a believer in Christ. The older brother has seen war and battle and tells his younger brother that he didn’t see a lot of God “over there” and to not tell him that God moves in mysterious ways. It is this same older brother who receives the mark, or chip. It is also clear that people who have the mark will accept it willingly and not think anything of it. We also see a world in economic chaos during this future time and talk of a “one world government” and a “one world leader”. Much of the action takes place on a plane as there is a struggle to get the chip and to get it safely to a world leader who is prepared to pay handsomely for it. When several people come up missing on the plane, with clothes left behind (a cross is also found without an owner) a minister who didn’t really follow his declaration of faith believes the Rapture has taken place.
This movie has a strong faith-based message and points to Christ as mankind’s future and only hope. It should be noted that there are moments of strong violence in the film including people being shot and a couple of characters display very bloody wounds and the blood flows on their clothes and on a man’s hands. A woman is shot too but it is not shown in a graphic manner. There are a lot of fights and punching and kicking and guns held on people as well as a knife. Several people do die. Despite the violent moments there are strong themes of faith so we are awarding our Faith Based Seal to the movie with a caution for violence.
