Synopsis

A family of Australian children is riding home from school for the Christmas holidays when they meet two strangers. They tell them about their lives, including their new and valuable horse at home. The next morning when they wake they discover that the mare and her foal have been stolen. Feeling responsible for the theft, they set off to recover the horse and catch the criminals.

Dove Review

Here is a different kind of adventure which features the kids as the heroes. It is nearing Christmas when some Australian children come across two horse thieves. They don’t know they are horse thieves until later on when their own horse Lucy is taken and they put two and two together. Their father saved for three years to buy the mare and he is quite upset. The kids become determined to go after the thieves themselves and to give their father the best Christmas he ever had. However, a third man is involved as well and the task that lies before them won’t be easy as it includes little food, rain, and some tough travels, not to mention the danger.

These kids are resourceful and they ration food, mark trees, and persevere. We are pleased to award our Dove Seal to this adventure and encourage you to take this trip with the kids. It is one you will enjoy.
