This is a perfect movie for Valentine’s Day and for couples to share. Other romantics in the family will enjoy it too. It features a charming storyline about a woman TV talk show host, Eve Lovett (Joely Fisher), who has been through her share of doomed relationships. She learns that sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees or in this case love when it stares at us in the eye. However, with the help of Vernon (Cupid) she learns to not only help others on their road to love but she finds that in giving she receives, and the greatest gift of all…love.
The movie contains some funny lines. Eve has a palm reader on her show who tells her that someone has recently wronged her. “They did get my coffee order wrong this morning!” she jokes. In another scene Vernon tells Eve the longest relationship she had was for six months, a week and an afternoon. “That’s a nice run but it’s not exactly ‘Phantom of the Opera’ is it?” he asks.
Ultimately the point is made that love isn’t for sissies and that there are a few bumps along the way but that “it’s worth it.” So is taking the time to watch this genuinely funny and well-made movie. We are pleased to award it our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages twelve plus and due to the wonderful theme and terrific acting and story we present it five Doves, our best rating.
