Max Lucados Wemmicks: You are Special

Welcome to Wemmickville...In this charming village of colorful shops and cobblestone streets live the little wooden people known as Wemmicks.

All day, everyday, the whimsical Wemmicks go about town doing the same thing: they give each other stickers and golden stars are awarded to the talented and clever, while the clumsy and less gifted receive nothing but gray dots.

Dove Review

The people of Wemmicksville are governed by the mayor and his wife, who make the inhabitants feel shabby if they have dots and no stars. Lucia is a wooden puppet made by the woodcarver Ely and a friend of Punchinello. She has a problem because the stars and dots don’t stick on her, but she says she doesn’t care what people think of her and that’s why they don’t stick.

This shows everyone, young and old alike, that it is okay to just be you no matter what other people think or say. Always think the best of yourself and be positive. This story has been awarded our Dove “Family-Approval“ Seal.
