This movie offers something for tween and older superhero fan crowd! The film features action, laughs, dynamite special effects, and a complex storyline that is interesting to follow. A villain named Malekith is after a unique energy giving force that Jane Foster has and soon he is pursuing Jane to Asgard where Thor has taken her. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is bound to a cell due to his previous crimes and betrayal and Thor finds himself in a unique situation in which he is forced to enlist Loki’s help to fight a powerful army. In this movie all is not what it seems and the film escalates to more action, drama, and a rousing crescendo which sadly also features a few deaths. However, this movie is very funny at times, including a scene in which the form changing Loki takes on the appearance of Captain America and talks about his spandex and Red, White and Blue costume. You will not be able to hold in the laughter.
It should be noted that there is a fair amount of fantasy violence but even some of the violence isn’t what it appears to be as a main character’s hand is cut off but the audience learns later that it wasn’t really severed but was part of a plot to gain an upper hand (pun unintended) against the enemy.
Featuring loss through death, loyalty, and sacrificial love, this movie’s themes are noteworthy. Watching Chris Hemsworth as Thor alone is worth the admission price. Watch Thor raise his mighty hammer! This film features edge-of-your-seat action and adventure and you will love every minute of it.
