This is an interesting story to be sure. A man who has fathered over five hundred children due to his male donations winds up having over 142 of them try to find out who he is as they want to know the “donor” and their real father. Vince Vaughn plays David Wozniak and what is interesting about this film is the fact that he becomes involved in his children’s lives, most of them grown up, without them knowing he is their father. He gives one son a break from his job at a coffee shop so the young man can audition for an acting job, he helps a daughter battle drug addiction and he pushes a disabled son in his wheelchair and spends time with him. They all think he is a terrific guy but do not realize the true relationship. The fact David takes some responsibility and ownership of the situation is to be commended. He says that he can be their “guardian angel”. Eventually, he must decide whether or not to reveal his identity to his children.
Despite some good moments in the film, it features a few strong sexual comments and strong language in addition to drugs so we can’t award our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal to this one.
