This is a wonderful story for those that enjoy romantic tales and happy endings. Lauren Holly is a successful Southern writer named Abigail (Abby) Houston and she’s been promoting her newest book. The tour takes her to Bliss, Mississippi and there the hospitable people keep encouraging her to date the mayor, being told that they would make a perfect match. There is some confusion at first as to who exactly the mayor is and this is played for some laughs. Valerie Harper also guest stars as a Cupid of sorts, prompting Abby toward the date too. Abby is concerned it might not be more than a business date, to which her publicist says, “Hey, Snow White and the Prince started off with CPR.” Eventually Abby and Spencer Alexander (Cameron Bancroft), the mayor, do go out on a date but his kids feel threatened and their date doesn’t go as everyone planned.

However, the plot thickens and Abby and Spencer agree to go out again. By the time it is all said and done a kidnapping and further plot developments occur which threaten to halt Abby’s chance for happiness. We are happy to award our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal to this romantic comedy for all ages, while noting that it isn’t intended for the very young. The story features a theme of forgiveness and is about giving someone a second chance. For some good old fashioned southern hospitality, this is the one to see!
