Captain America: The Winter Soldier

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

Dove Review

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is a must see movie! I knew I was in for a good time when in an early scene Steve Rogers says he has been reading the internet and catching up and he has a “to do” list which includes seeing “Rocky” and “Star Wars”! This film features an action-packed journey along with humor, interesting villains, and a Stan Lee cameo. Captain America also faces his most difficult opponent so far, the Winter Soldier who turns out to be a bit of a surprise to Steve.

An example of the humor occurs when a car has been riddled with bullets and has endured several collisions and a character asks if it is still functional. “The air conditioning is still working!” replies another character. There are a few surprises too including something that happens to Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and, as mentioned, who the Winter Solder is. This action-packed movie is a fun ride! We are pleased to award it our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages twelve plus. It does have a lot of comic book, fantasy-style violence but there were several kids at the screening I attended who seemed to enjoy the movie and were not frightened or alarmed. Seeing “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is a fun way to spend two hours!
