This western features a decent story. John Mason (Christian Slater) is misunderstood during an event in a saloon, and he is pursued by a lawman named Cochrane (Donald Sutherland). Mason heads home to see his father, a man he doesn’t get along with very well. Still, he is reaching out to his father when a robbery occurs that results in his father’s death. Mason is determined to find the killer. Viewers learn before Mason does that the head of the gang is a man named Rudd (Lochlyn Munro), who is brother of Alice (Jill Hennessy), the woman he loves. Rudd and Mason happen to be great friends to boot. The plot features typical western fare with shoot-outs, saloon fights, and a showdown at the end. However, the ending contains a bit of a surprise and is a satisfying conclusion to the movie.
Regrettably, the movie contains a lot of strong language, in addition to violence, and we are unable to award it our Dove Family-Approved Seal.
